Southeast Colorado’s training programs and award-winning institutions of higher education prepare future and existing workers to best meet evolving employer priorities. Area employers can take advantage of these local resources, along with a variety of state programs, to help workers gain needed skills.
Community Colleges Responsive to Employer Needs
Lamar Community College and Otero Junior College offer a range of degree and certificate programs designed specifically for business owners and entrepreneurs. Classes provide instruction in management, finances, marketing, and a variety of operational areas.
Both colleges work closely with employers to make sure that classroom and hands-on instruction develop skills tailored to the demands of today’s marketplace. The schools have initiated custom worker training programs in as little as 30 days.
SCORE Center
OJC’s Southeast Colorado Office of Resource Enterprise (SCORE) Center makes it possible to find area economic development, business, housing and training services under one roof.
State Training Resources
The State offers Colorado First & Existing Industry Job Training Assistance to businesses interested in creating specialized workforce training programs. Colorado Workforce Centers present free training programs, help companies recruit qualified candidates for openings and provide tax credit and training reimbursement opportunities.
